“Don’t store up treasure for yourself here on earth.”

This year, I am glad that by the grace of God, even in such a COVID situation, we have had the opportunity to testify amongst children to God’s eternal treasure. Not long ago, a preacher said that for God, the year 2020 is not wasted time, but that He will continue to work and re-create.

I served in Szada and Budapest-Fasor where I was able to see that the Lord really is at work in this year, and that he wants to use us and the children. It was interesting that I could take part in a camp on the same topic (Golddiggers) that I attended as a child 10 years ago. For me, the small group conversations at both camps were outstanding. In Szada, my group of 12-13 year olds and I were able to think about what the difference is between earthly and heavenly treasures. The girls were very interested in the topic of Heaven, so that’s what we talked about the most. It was also important and thought-provoking for me that there really are so many earthly treasures that bind us, which cannot replace the greatest treasure of eternal communion with God, the reality of Heaven. In Budapest-Fasor I thought about the stories and topics of the week with Year Three children. They were more interested in the story of creation and God as the creator. I was pleased to find that they had many questions, and some even prayed boldly for other members of the group. I am very grateful to God that I have been able to make many new friends among the helpers and children who I can intercede for.

From the Budapest-Fasor camp, I could mention a little boy who always had a big smile on his face. His joy and childish heart reminds us that the treasure that we have received through Jesus Christ, eternal life with God, should encourage us to behave similarly and store up treasure for ourselves in heaven.

Camps memories in 2020 – Tatabánya

Being at Scripture Union camps, and even entering the SU office in Calvin Square, always makes me feel at home. God has proved again, He knows where I need to serve. The testimonies were a blessing to me, I admire that the word of God can address anyone who seeks the truth. As I saw the burdens of my companions and we prayed for each other, my heart was comforted and encouraged.

I challenged myself this year when I undertook the leadership of the teen group. I was afraid I would fail and I would not be able to use the opportunity given to me, but I was pleasantly disappointed as all 8 children were open, active and interested. I locked them in my heart, and even now we still keep in touch and talk about God’s word together. There was unity among the local helpers; they arrived enthusiastically every morning, proving to be true right hand men and women. I can say the same about the pastor’s family. I was tired by Friday and it was difficult to smile. When I looked at the kids, I knew it was worth getting tired and I believe sowing the seed wasn’t in vain.

The Lord is so good, if I had gone to Budapest (from Transylvania) 3 days later, I would have had to go to quarantine. Isn’t God’s timing great?

Support a child

Each year we reach out to gather aid to children who are too poor to pay the participation fee in our Bible camps.  It is your chance to help a child to come and hear the gospel!

Support a volunteer

Cannot come to a camp to help? Support someone else who ha the free time and will but lacks the financials.

In 2019 we expect around 350 kids and 50 volunteers to come to our 10 English Bible camps. Our aim is to support 4-6 kids in each camp and help any volunteers  we can in their mission.

If you want to be a part of this goal please send your donation to:

a) Give through SU England&Wales with giftaid (make a comment that you want to support a child or a volunteer in an SU Hungary camp. If you want us to decide to whom to give write: „for camps”). Link.
